River Reishi
River Reishi is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the meeting place of mythology, ecology, and place. Working across sculpture, installation, illustration, and participatory art, she draws inspiration from folklore, waterways, and living landscapes to create works that invite deeper relationships with the natural world.
Central to her practice is an ongoing series of ephemeral shoreline installations created at beaches around the world using locally gathered sand and natural materials. These temporary works emerge from the landscape and are ultimately returned to it, transforming shorelines into spaces for reflection, connection, and collective storytelling.
Through recurring themes of water, memory, grief, transformation, and resilience, Reishi's work explores how stories help us understand our relationship to the environments we inhabit. Her practice is rooted in the belief that myth is not separate from place, but one way of seeing it.
